Ghent River Hotel
Ghent River Hotel is situated on the right shore of the “Leie”, who formed the border of Ghent from 11th to 15th century. Thanks to the old wharf is “Ghent River Hotel” the only hotel attainable by boat. The hotel consists of 2 buildings: A Renaissance-house dated 1518 and an old ricepeelfactory built on the foundations of a burnt down sugar refinery. After that the building was used as a steam-cotton-mill (1873), as a storehouse (1879) and as a steamed-up bread bakery (1892). The bakery had several enlargements until 1909. Opposite the hotel there is a little square where there was a yarn market during the Middle Ages until end 19th century.
